Living, learning and understanding the ecology of nature
Paul Havemann - Owner
Paul is a natural resources management professional who spent over 20 years working in the biodiversity management mainstream in South Africa. A recent geographic transition from wildland to urban setting has resolved him to working towards a healthier and more resilient city environment. His focus is strongly aligned with the expansion of rainwater harvesting strategies that will supplement, or even replace, centralized domestic water sources in urban and rural households. He has designed and built rainwater harvesting systems for domestic potable water supplies in the rural sub-tropics and is currently co-developing the integration of urban rainwater harvesting strategies with school curricula in California’s drought-stricken Central Valley. He subscribes to an ecosystems-approach to land management and holds that the social and economic well being of society is directly affected by how effectively we manage our natural resources.
